Johanna and the Vegan Gravel Camp 2022

When Johanna announced the “Vegan Gravel Camp 2022” in the Harz Mountains and started raving about it, she got us excited. Shortly afterwards, it was clear: we would cooperate with the camp organizers, offer technical workshops, and use the opportunity to test prototypes of the new gravel series. And so, together with Johanna, we spent four days at The Cabin hostel in Oderbrück in the Harz Mountains.

The wonderful time at the Vegan Gravel Camp was over far too quickly for Johanna as well. There were many reasons for this: great gravel weather, first-class routes, a fantastic kitchen crew, an interesting program, a great hostel, a very dedicated camp team, and, above all, 30 inspiring participants.

Johanna was – like us – quite excited about the first “real test” of the gravel series and the feedback from the participants. After each ride, we asked the “test riders” for their honest feedback. Whether it was the color scheme, the equipment, or the riding experience, the feedback was very positive, honest, and constructive overall.

In fact, it wasn't just the rides and test rides that impressed, but also the evening program. With her extensive expertise in racing, bike packing, technology, and vegan nutrition, Johanna was a sought-after conversation partner among the participants.

Johanna and the development of the Gravel Series

The strictly limited 1st Edition of our GX-1200 gravel bike has been a huge success and has generated unexpected enthusiasm, not only in the gravel and bike packing scene. However, we will not be resting on our laurels, but will be working together with Johanna on the further development of the GX-1200 and a gravel series.

The goal is to soon present several gravel bikes for different requirements and budgets, without neglecting the consistently high standards of quality, function, and durability of vsf fahrradmanufaktur.

Johanna has already covered hundreds of kilometers on the GX-1200 and knows exactly what makes the hearts of the gravel community beat faster. Whether it's the frame, mounting points, gears, brakes, design, or other features, every aspect is taken into account in the overall planning of a model, because one thing is clear:

A well-functioning gravel bike is more than the sum of its parts.

Johanna and “Radelmädchen“ on a Northsea tour.

Together with blogger “Radelmädchen” Jule, Johanna Jahnke is riding the limited 1st Edition of the new GX-1200 to kick off our new gravel bike series. The uncompromisingly high-quality debut bike with an exclusive steel frame from a German forge has been equipped with the finest gravel-specific components.

Together with Jule, she embarked on an extensive North Sea tour to mark the launch of the bike. A ride that was tailor-made for our new gravel bike.

North Sea tour with a stopover

After precise planning using the “Koomot” route app, Johanna and “Radelmädchen” Jule cycled from Hamburg to Nordenham on the North Sea in the best bikepacking style – from there to Glückstadt and then back to Hamburg. An important stopover: the presentation of the limited 1st Edition of the new GX-1200 at the vsf fahrradmanufaktur in-house exhibition in Oldenburg.

On their tour, the pair not only had a lot of fun, they were also able to share many interesting, impressive and strange experiences – whether on the road or at our place in Oldenburg. You can find out what the pair discovered in “Radelmädchen” Jule blog.

“My first city bike, which I bought when I was 22, was made by vsf fahrradmanufaktur and I have felt connected to the values of the brand for a long time. And the opportunity to be part of new developments is very exciting for me. I can really say it’s a dream come true.”
